EpiQMAx GmbH

EpiQMAx is an innovative spin-off of the BioMedical Center in Munich. Based on mass spectrometry technology, EpiQMAx has been analysing post-translational modifications of proteins since 2018.

At the beginning of its foundation, the start-up focused on the analysis of epigenetic modifications and developed a platform technology for this purpose that includes a sample preparation KIT, mass spectrometry analysis and data visualisation. Since 2020, EpiQMAx has been expanding its portfolio and offering analyses of post-translational modifications of cellular and recombinant proteins. At its headquarters in the IZB, the company operates a state-of-the-art mass spectrometer that enables comprehensive screenings of "epi-proteomes".

Institut für Energie- und Umwelttechnik

The Institute for Energy and Environmental Technology (IUTA) is a research institute beyond the field of energy and environmental technology and also forms a bridge between basic research and industrial application in the field of protein analytics.

The Research Analytics & Miniaturisation department focuses on the development of innovative coupling and detection methods in protein analytics. The goal is to create basic knowledge in order to be able to characterise a sample as comprehensively as possible. The current scientific investigations focus, among other things, on multidimensional separation and detection systems based on two-dimensional liquid chromatography (HPLC, High Performance Liquid Chromatography), ion mobility spectrometry (IMS, Ion Mobility Spectrometry) and (high-resolution) mass spectrometry (HRMS, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry).

The research aims the acquisition of new scientific knowledge and methods, as well as, the transfer of the findings into practice, for example through concrete product and process developments.

OmicScouts GmbH

OmicScouts is a young, fast-growing company in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics. We combine outstanding research expertise with innovative technologies to help our clients in the pharmaceutical industry develop better and safer drugs faster.

Using our mass spectrometry-based assays, we determine relevant biological and pharmacological properties of proteins in their physiological environment. For example, we can identify drug targets, elucidate molecular mechanisms of action or provide potential biomarkers to predict treatment success. In turn this molecular information helps our customers to find effective starting points for new drug developments and to make the right decisions in the context of their drug research.
